Using Sign-In with Microsoft provides a secure way for users at your law firm to access Walter. By signing in with Microsoft, your organization’s two-factor authentication and other security policies will manage users' access to Walter, allowing your IT department to control access securely. Once users sign in with Microsoft, other authentication methods are disabled, ensuring that access to Walter is governed solely by your organization’s Microsoft accounts.

Walter requests only the minimum permissions needed to enable secure sign-in for your team. These permissions include:

  • openID: Enables users to sign into Walter using your corporate Single Sign-On (SSO) and provides access to basic user profile information.

  • email: Allows Walter to read the primary email address of users.

  • profile: Grants access to basic user profile details, such as name and username.

  • user.Read: Enables Walter to read login information related to the user and access basic company information.

  • offline_access: Allows Walter to maintain the granted permissions even when users are not actively signed in (this does not provide additional access to user data).

These permissions ensure Walter can integrate with your Microsoft account while respecting user privacy. No further access is requested.

Below is a screenshot of the permissions requested during admin consent. This outlines exactly what Walter requires to enable Microsoft sign-in for your team. Each permission serves a specific purpose, as detailed above, and no additional access is requested beyond what is shown.

If you have any questions about these permissions or need further clarification, please reach out to support@getwalter.com, and our team would be happy to assist.
