Description

This guide provides steps to:

  1. DNS Configuration

  2. Allow-List and Pre-Install Walter's Word Add-In

  3. Enable Single Sign-On (SSO)

  4. Restrict Sign-On Method

1. DNS Configuration

Walter sends emails for features like document signature requests, similar to how DocuSign notifies recipients to sign a document.

To personalize these emails and enhance your clients' experience, you can configure your DNS so that emails are sent from your domain (e.g., paralegal@lawfirm.com) instead of noreply@getwalter.com.

This setup involves adding two DNS records—DKIM and Return-Path—to your domain. The Walter onboarding team will provide you with these records.

To add the DNS records, log in to your DNS host or provider and navigate to the section for managing DNS records.

For more guidance, check out Postmark’s resources on adding DNS records with common providers.

2. Allow-List and Pre-Install Walter's Word Add-In

If your organization has restrictions on Microsoft Word add-ins – ensure Walter’s Word Add-In is allow-listed and preferably automatically deployed to all users.

3. Enable Single Sign-On (SSO)

Google Users

No action is required for this step. Walter automatically supports Google Single Sign-On for your team.

Microsoft Users

This step requires a team member with admin consent permissions to authorize Walter's integration with your Microsoft account. The permissions requested are:

  • openID: Enables users to sign into Walter using your corporate Single Sign-On (SSO) and provides access to basic user profile information.

  • email: Allows Walter to read the primary email address of users.

  • profile: Grants access to basic user profile details, such as name and username.

  • user.Read: Enables Walter to read login information related to the user and access basic company information.

  • offline_access: Allows Walter to maintain the granted permissions even when users are not actively signed in (this does not provide additional access to user data).

4. Restrict Sign-On Method

If your organization would like to limit sign-in options to specific methods, such as your corporate SSO, please reach out to support@getwalter.com. Our team can assist with configuring this setting to meet your security requirements.
